Two sisters go missing on a remote Scottish island. Twenty years later, one is found–but she’s still the same age as when she disappeared. The secrets of witches have reached across the centuries in this chilling Gothic thriller from the author of the acclaimed The Nesting.

One of those ‘read it in less than 24 hours’ situations. This was truly brilliant – full of suspense, intrigue and darkness. Based on true stories as well, I loved the historical fiction element. The atmosphere that C J Cooke has created in this book is so full of tension that it’s actually at times, hard to read alone! I loved the characters, the setting (remote Scottish Island for the majority of it) and the storyline. Steeped in Folklore, this is a wonderful read for Autumn. The historical fiction aspect has made me realise that there are so many stories to uncover and that element will be something I’m thinking about for a long time.

About the Book

A deserted lighthouse

Upon the cliffs of a remote Scottish island stands a lighthouse. Strange and terrible events have happened here. It started with a witch hunt. Now, centuries later, islanders are vanishing.

A lost family

Liv Stay and her children don’t believe in witches or curses. But within months of arriving on the island, her daughter Luna is the only one of them left.

An impossible child

Twenty years later, Luna’s missing sister turns up out of the blue. She is exactly the girl Luna remembers. Same face. Same smile. Same age.

Faced with the impossible, it’s up to Luna to find out what really happened at the lighthouse all those years ago.
