Jenny Hale is one of those authors that I would suggest in a heartbeat if anyone asked me to suggest an author to them.. So imagine my surprise when I found out that this was only the SECOND book of hers that I had read! I haven’t delved into her Christmas books yet and they are all anyone talks about when mentioning Jenny Hale, but this Summer read was just amazing.

Set in the Outer Banks, Faith’s nan has invited everyone back to spend her 90th birthday with all of her family close. It means mending bridges, or breaking them a little bit more before they are fixed at least, and confronting secrets and unspoken things from the past. The setting really makes this book summery and magical – and Jenny Hale weaves her chapters so that you truly feel that you are there.
