If you thought that Jess’s first book was an outstanding read – prepare for a treat with her second because oh yes, she gets better and better! How To Destroy Your Husband is Jess’s second standalone book and is out this month published by Kingsley Publishers.
Jess’s writing style has matured dramatically since book one, and it was already refined, polished and far beyond my usual expectations for a debut Author. She has built brilliant characters, ones you will love and ones you will absolutely dislike and despair of. And she puts them through normal paces so that as a reader we can relate to many of the things that they do or are going through. Jess isn’t afraid to address complex themes through these characters and often, as is the case with this book, issues and topics that are regularly avoided and not talked about.
Sense of place has always been important to me when reading a book – and yet with Jess’s and her signature style of not committing to an exact location, or even country, it somehow doesn’t matter. I liked not knowing the currency, the norms, the societal expectations surrounding the characters. In fact, knowing that Jess lives in Australia and is from the UK, I liked that I could picture the storyline unfolding easily in both settings.
Loving Jess’s first book will always mean that as a reader you approach her second with some nervousness. Fear not! Jess has writing totally in the bag and she knows what we want to read, how we want to read it, and how exactly to hook us in so that we don’t pack our suitcases for holiday and instead stay in the pages of her book!
About the Book
Cassie Edwards swore she’d never fall in love… then she met Jamie. He changed everything, and Cassie’s never been happier.
But with less than one month to go to her wedding, Cassie discovers Jamie is cheating on her with his colleague. Blinded by rage, Cassie makes it her mission to seek revenge on the pair.
When Cassie looks deeper into her fiancé’s life, she soon realises being faithful isn’t the only thing he’s lying about.
As her hunt for the truth takes her to some of the darkest corners of the internet, Cassie learns just how little she knows about the man she shares her life with. It leaves her wondering one thing – is Jamie someone she should destroy, or someone she should fear instead? How far would you go to destroy your husband?
